Discussion of the Month
Summer is coming. My last day of work is Friday, June 3. I can't wait. We don't start back to work until August 2. With the new calendar, this will be the first time in history that I will be working at my primary job on my birthday. Or will I? Yes, I will. No retirement this year. Within the next four years, maybe five, and that's a promise. I plan to just hang out this summer. The summer of 1999 was the last summer that I worked my night job during the summer. I retired from my night job November, 1999. It seems like a long time ago. That was my first step in my retirement process...more

Entertainment
Kingdom Of Heaven, an excellent movie. It took place during the Crusades. It really wasn’t about the Crusades per se, but it took place during that time period. The movie, a long one, too long for me, but I did sit through the whole thing. It was good, but it moved at a slow pace and was long. Orlando Bloom did an outstanding job as the main character. Definitely see the movie. Monster-In-Law, another great movie, although a completely different kind of movie than Kingdom. It was a great comedy...more

Health, Fitness and Lifestyle
Millions of health conscious Americans are turning to the Internet to search for medical remedies for a variety of diseases, ailments or symptoms. Internet user, beware. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet. By now, most people, even people with a minimal knowledge of technology and the Internet, are aware of the Internet pitfalls. A word to the wise - be careful. When looking for medical information, try using reliable, truthful and free sites. The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, 05.18.05 edition...more

Politics
In May, First Lady Laura Bush visited the mid-east. She proved to be a very effective American representative. She was welcomed by most people, however, she did meet with some angry protestors. I think she represented the American government in a very effective and appropriate manner. During the trip she proved that she was her own person. She spoke her own mind on at least two very distinct occasions...more

Religion and Spiritualism
Let's talk about the stem cell controversy. Yes, it is a political issue in the United States. However, should it be a political issue? I think not. The government should not play God in this or any other religious based issue. As President Reagan said so eloquently, "there they go again". Can't you just hear President Reagan's voice saying those memorable words. President Reagan is an American icon. Regardless of his conservative politics, he was a great American. I'm getting off task here, but Ronald Reagan was also a man of God...more

Technology and Business
Summer is a coming. Gas prices are still too high, although in my region of the world, they are starting to come down a bit. In any case, conservation of fuel is a wise plan of action. How does one save money on gasoline. Here are some gas saving tips from the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, appearing in the 05.05.05 Sunday edition...more

Too Strange, Weird or Just Funny
Tennessee congressman Henry Ford used around $15,000 from his political fundraising account to pay for his daughters wedding. He said that it was legal since most of the quests were from his congressional district. Now come on Representative Ford, stop using that Tennessee humor on us...more
